Located on the edge of the Indian River Lagoon, Rockledge is quiet town of just over 27,000 people.  The city of Rockledge was founded in August of 1887 and was named by an early settler named Gardner S Hardee.  The name is a reference to the many ledges of coquina rock along the Indian River.  Towards the early 20th century the city became a popular resort town during the winter.  Rockledge underwent a boom during the 1960s as works poured into all parts of Brevard County to participate in the space program.  Today Rockledge’s local economy continues to draw from technology and aerospace.  The city’s attracts home buyers with it wide variety of housing options from million dollar waterfront properties to affordable single family homes.  Centrally located with in the county Rockledge provides easy access to I95, the beaches, and a number of family friendly community events.
