If you've been on the fence about purchasing a rental property, now might just be the right time. The reason for this is the lack of reasonably priced starter housing.
What this means is that for the time being it is cheaper to rent than to buy. The overall lack of lower-end properties makes the dream of home ownership difficult for many first time home buyers. Low end buyers are finding that they can rent a nicer home in a better neighborhood than they can afford to purchase. That makes it a no brainer for them to rent for a few years while they wait for the market to turn in their favor.
Meanwhile, investors can be assured of both a good return of their investment and a ready supply of tenants. Of course, as with any real estate purchase, purchasing a rental property location and price must be considered.
