5 Outdoor Features Buyers Want

by Debbie Caldwell 04/26/2024

Florida’s temperate climate makes it a wonderful place to enjoy the great outdoors.  This means buyers are looking for homes with inviting and functional outdoor space.  These are a few of the things buyers look for when buying in Florida.

Outdoor Kitchen   Whether it is a really nice built in grill or a full blown kitchen buyers love seeing an outdoor kitchen.  Add a built in grill, a counter to prep at and a sink for cleaning up at the end of a meal and buyers will hungry for your home.  Don’t limit yourself to gas grills buyers are also interested in electric grills that cut the environmental impact of grilling.

Weather resistant landscaping.  Use of native plants in your landscaping can be both aesthetically pleasing and easier to maintain.  Choosing drought or hurricane resistant plants have the added bonus of attracting native animals and bugs that are helpful to the environment.

Backyard sports fields.  Whether it is a basketball court or a pickleball court, these types of enhancements give buyers a place to exercise and unwind at the end of a long day.

Building up your porch or patio.  A raised patio when built correctly can help make an outdoor space more inviting while offering better drainage.  Consider adding an upper level porch to a 2 story property to add outdoor space to an otherwise smaller lot.

Finally Adaptable spaces.  The more flexible your outdoor space is that more like buyers are to see themselves in the space.  Screening your porch keeps bugs and small creatures out of your outdoor living space.  Fans can cool the space in the hottest part of the summer and outdoor space heaters can make the space cozy even on cold winters nights.

The more effort you put into making your outdoor spaces friendly to your family the more likely buyers are going to find them desirable as well.  A little time and energy can go a long way towards making buyers say sold.

Happy Selling!
