Beat the Heat!

by Debbie Caldwell 07/03/2024

Nothing hits quite like Florida Heat.  Whether you were born here or just visiting, learning to avoid the worse of the heat is as important as avoiding gators.

  1. Stay hydrated.  Drink lots of water even if you don’t feel thirsty.  You can easily get dehydrated in the hot muggy weather.
  2. Dress appropriately.  Wear light weight, light colored, loose fitting clothing.  This will hep you stay cool.
  3. Wear a hat or carry and umbrella.  This will protect you from the harmful UV rays.
  4. Stay indoors during the Midday Heat.  The peak heat is between Noon and 4 PM.
  5. Limit Activity.  Take frequent breaks and stay in the shade when possible.
  6. Find cool places to hang out.  Museums, Libraries, and Malls can be a great place to enjoy the A/C.
  7. Spend time in the pool or at the beach.  Spending time in the water is an amazing way to stay cool.  Just remember to reapply sunscreen frequently.

Summer in Florida can be hot and muggy, but if you take the proper precautions you can still enjoy yourself!

Happy Keeping Cool!
