Boston Tea Party

by Debbie Caldwell 12/06/2024

Did you know that today is this 251 anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.  Considered to be one of the most formative incidents leading to the Revolutionary War, the Boston Tea Party occurred when 342 chest of tea were thrown overboard an East India Company boat moored in Boston Harbor in protest of the high tax on the good.  The destructive act was carried out by Colonial citizens disguised as members of the Mohawk Nation.  The incident led to a series of increasingly harsh punishments by the Brisith Parliament which in turn only inflamed the anger of Colonial citizens.  Eventually leading to the Declaration of Independence and the war.  Today tea is not taxed when purchased in a store here in the Untied States.

Happy Drinking!
