As Realtors, we have a number of ways to get your home in front of buyers on the internet. They are a great way to peak a buyer’s interest. Those can only take your home so far. In order to really sell your home, we must get the buyer inside it. Only then can they truly picture themselves there. Today I would like to go over things you can do to prepare your home to show for buyers.
Declutter your home. Now is a great time to start editing the things that you don’t want to care on to your next home. Removing clutter helps buyers really see your home.
Keep your home clean. Dust, vacuum, empty the sink, wipe down the counters. People can’t see your home if they only see the crumbs from breakfast.
Set your home temperature at a comfortable level. You’ll want your home comfortably cool in the hot months and warm and welcoming in the winter months. Or in Florida 9 Months of hot with a few days of cold.
Make sure your home is odor free. Set out baking soda or vinegar at night to absorb odors.
Make sure everything works. Nothing turns off a buyer faster than a sticking cabinet or a dripping faucet.
Sweep the porch and/or patio. Remove fallen branches and pick up pet leavings. Your yard should look tidy.
Make sure your valuables and medication are hidden or locked away. We always hope that buyers are honest, but why leave things to chance.
Finally, whenever possible make your family is out of the house before the showing. Buyers can’t see themselves in the house if they see you in it.
Making sure your home is picture perfect for every showing is an important first step towards selling your home.
